GeoConnections' Geomatics Skills Network Enables Students to Participate in the Joint International Symposium
The Geomatics Skills Network, a GeoConnections program, would like to thank everyone that submitted an application for sponsorship to the Joint International Symposium on Geospatial Theory, Processing and Applications (ISPRS Commission IV 2002 Symposium, Spatial Data Handling 2002 Symposium and the 95th Annual Geomatics Conference of the Canadian Institute of Geomatics (CIG)) to be held together in Ottawa from July 8 to 12, 2002.The response was overwhelming. It made it very difficult for us to choose only five people, especially as the quality of all the applications was very good. The successful candidates are:
- Samer Diarbakerly (University of New Brunswick)
- Mark Nguyen (University of Calgary)
- Karen Russell (Memorial University)
- Jayanti Jessica Sharma (University of Calgary)
- Sylvain Théberge (Université Laval)
Skills Network will pay the workshop and registration fees, technical tours, travel, accomodation and meals for these students.
Contact information will be kept in order to inform students of future opportunities; for instance, we plan on sponsoring students to Géomatique 2002 to be held in Montréal October 30-31 2002. Future sponsorships opportunities will be posted on the GeoConnections web site under "What's New".
If you have any questions/comments please address them to Annie Laponsee.
