20 Students Receive Canadian Geomatics Scholarships 2003
Twenty post-secondary students have been awarded scholarships enabling them to pursue further studies in Canada in the field of geomatics. The awards include four graduate-level university scholarships of $2,500, eight undergraduate-level university scholarships of $2,000, and eight college/technical institute-level scholarships of $1,500. The awards were made under the Geomatics Canada scholarship program, which is funded jointly by the GeoSkills program of GeoConnections and by Geomatics Canada. The scholarship program is administered by the Canadian Institute of Geomatics. The GeoSkills program seeks to address the forecast demand for geomatics professionals in partnership with national industrial associations, academia, and provincial/territorial and federal governments. Its objectives are to strengthen the capacity and competitiveness of Canada's growing geomatics sector, help graduates gain the skills that geomatics employers want, and promote geomatics as a career choice.
