Watching Your Health with GeoInnovations

This unique Internet application will collect, store, integrate, build and disseminate detailed health care information for the Canadian public. PublicHealthWatch.com will make it possible for Canadians to monitor public health conditions over the Web, just as they might monitor weather reports. The project will create a map server with various health surveillance capabilities, ranging from producing current maps of health events and determinants, to generating statistical and demographical health reports. Users will be able to add and integrate local data on top of server data for display, query and analysis. The system will feature advanced modelling, including cluster and point-data analysis, to identify significant health events. The project will conform to the data frameworks of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) and comply with international standards. PublicHealthWatch.com will satisfy the growing demand among Canadian health care professionals and citizens for simple, complete and accurate access to public health information.
