Connecting CFS/NFIS Data with the CGDI through a Freely Distributable Table OGC Compliant Web Map Server

This project will extend the web-based access to Canadian Forest Service (CFS) data through the National Forest Information System (NFIS) from a single central data warehouse to local datasets housed on servers throughout Canada. This integration of remote datasets will be accomplished through the use of Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant Web Map Server. In order to do this, an existing public domain web mapping software toolkit from the University of Minnesota (MapServer) will be enhanced to receive and send OGC Web Map Server requests. In addition, a custom installation package and tools for simple publishing of local datasets will be developed.
