Kativik Community GeoPortal

The aim of the Kativik community Geoportal project is to improve the collective knowledge about land tenure to support the sustainable development of the territory's resources.

In conjunction with GeoConnections, Kativik will create an on-line application, based on the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) architecture and endorsed standards, that will permit the geospatial integration and management of information about land tenure, its use, its characteristics, and its legal and physical constraints. The application will also allow the viewing and consultation of current and planned land tenure; a service to link various knowledge databases with existing corporate and local databases; a transaction service to facilitate land-use management; and an on-line discussion module.

This project contributes to infrastructure development in northern Quebec by creating a powerful new capacity to collect, create, integrate, and share land and geospatial information efficiently in the North.
