The Science SchoolHouse Network Earth Analysis WorkBench

The Earth Analysis WorkBench (EAW) project will give students and teachers on-line access to geomatics data, analysis software, lesson plans and tutorials that they can apply to projects in geography, geology, oceanography, meteorology, forestry, environmental management and other subjects. The EAW will be a key component of the Science SchoolHouse Network, an Internet portal to educational science resources currently under development for schools in Canada, the United States and around the world. The Earth Analysis WorkBench, which will tap directly into the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure, will enable students worldwide to explore satellite imagery, geospatial data processing, topographic data and other information housed in the CGDI. The EAW's user-friendly interfaces will allow students to merge data sources (such as satellite images or topographic data) with analysis procedures (such as image filtering or fusing satellite and topographic images with demographic data). In doing so, students will learn in detail about their global environment and will see the value of geomatics and geospatial data to their educations and their lives.
